Safe Movement: Somatic Therapy (1/4) – 4-Part Series
Dr. Rassamee Ling and Amy Kiara Ruth
This interactive and gentle movement 4-part series creates space to gently support wellbeing through breath, movement, sensory awareness, and embodiment explorations. These sessions are designed to offer an experience of moving from a place of (relative) ease and calm – modification and alternatives will be provided.
We will build a felt-sense of support through ground and space orientation and guided embodiment explorations. A spectrum of gentle somatic movements such as body scan practices, breathwork, Qigong, and others will be utilized to “open attention” and bring presence to body regions in the current moment.
This GMV is designed as a 4-part series – you can join any class:
- Session 1: cultivating interoception; building a sensation vocabulary and developing awareness of our internal experience beyond the experience of pain/discomfort.
- Session 2: breathing, sounding, and breath movement; exploring how the movement of your breath can be a resource to release tension and invite more ease.
- Session 3: “seed” movements and pacing; exploring small, subtle movements as a foundation for larger movements to allow for gradation of movement intensity.
- Session 4: integration; this session’s theme will be generated based on participants’ questions and requests – and provides an opportunity for integration.
