We are thrilled to announce that Sarah Jamieson, a valued member of our team since 2013, is now offering counselling services at Change Pain!
A Journey from Yoga to Counselling
Sarah first joined us as a yoga teacher, specializing in the therapeutic applications of yoga, mindfulness, meditation, and breathwork for pain management. Over the years, through her work facilitating Group Medical Visits (GMVs) and providing pain coaching, she recognized a deeper need in the people she was supporting.
“I realized I wasn’t just working with pain,” Sarah shared. “I was working with grief and loss, anxiety and depression, guilt and shame, and complex unresolved trauma. And I wanted to be able to support people facing these challenges in a more holistic and effective way.”
This realization led her to pursue a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, where she focused her thesis research on the experience of chronic pain recovery Read more about her research here

A “Pain Optimist”
Sarah describes herself as a “pain optimist”—someone who truly believes in the possibility of positive transformation.
“Listening to the personal recovery stories of my research participants was a profound and healing experience for me,” she shared.
“The positive transformation I had witnessed in my years at Change Pain had already led me to believe in recovery, but my research expanded my understanding of what is truly possible.”
Sarah’s expertise reinforces the growing recognition that psychological interventions play a crucial role in pain management.
