Changepain’s services support Canadian Veterans and help improve the well-being of Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) Veterans, and their families, suffering from chronic pain.Â
Here at changepain, we believe in protecting the most sacred asset of our beautiful nation: Our people.Â
That’s why we’ve partnered with key stakeholders in making health services work for your needs as a veteran. Â
We have MSP-covered medical services and VAC-covered allied health services available. To get access for medical services, please have your Medical Doctor send a referral so we can make the assessment happen.
Via MSP access, veterans have access to our changepain’s Core Pain Program which is a comprehensive 12-month outpatient program focused on diagnosing the root cause of the pain, providing pain care options, making referral suggestions and empowering the patient to transition to rehabilitation services or community care management.
Throughout the 12 months, various types of treatments and therapies are offered to address root causes, educate and support the patient towards functional recovery, and determine the most effective combination of services needed.
As veterans needs span the scope of physical activity, dealing with flareups, sleep and mental health and overall lifestyle habits, veterans also have access to our interdisciplinary services through their Blue Cross benefits involving our allied health team for physiotherapy, chiropractic, acupuncture, and counselling.
To have access to allied health services, no referral is needed. Most veterans are entitled to 15 acupuncture, 20 physiotherapy and chiropractic sessions along with 25 counselling sessions per calendar year. If additional sessions are needed, your therapist can request approval to extend your program with changepain.
Mental health well being is critical and veteran culture specific services include our IV ketamine infusion therapy, ketamine assisted psychotherapy and MSP group medical visits on brain health, brain mastery, communication, healing after trauma and empowering to change pain series.
